A strange month
September was a bit of a strange month, despite feeling busy we only issued 4,908 meals which is nearly a 1,000 less than the same period last year. There has been a flood of volunteers over the last couple of weeks, we are very grateful for all the support but we really need someone who can come in at least four times a week during our opening times and be dedicated to the food bank. We have a great team of volunteers but most can only do one or two days a week and often have other family commitments. The food bank has grown so much over the years it now requires quite a lot of organization and at least two people every day just to answer the phones. This month is also the start of the “Harvest Festival” donations and all the extra work that involves, sorting, dating, putting away, we are also beginning to think about Christmas and the families with children and collecting new toys so that children don’t miss out. So if you think this may be for you, or even know someone that might be interested do let us know. To finish on a positive note we have just been awarded a “National Lottery Grant” on top of the “North Northamptonshire Council” grant we received earlier in the year, so our future is looking secure.
